Day 5b You had turkey for Thanksgiving, we had peacock and turtle!

Finally, the day ended with a rickshaw ride and dinner at an "Imperial Decorated Family Dinner".  These are 'tribute' meals assembled to mimic, in a minor way, how the rich and famous imperial families ate centuries ago. (Good food but better presentation.)

But in order to get to the dinner's location, we all traveled by a human-powered rickshaw.  We have experienced this once before in India, there, a rather short around-the-block ride.  This one lasted an hour, I thought we were being taken to Cambodia!  But, we experienced Hue as do the locals with all the sights, smells and sounds of the streets and the food market as well as the sights, smells and sounds of the traffic, meat counters and unfiltered exhaust from thousands of motorcycles.  Some in our groups enjoyed the cultural 'immersion', others were vocally terrorized!

Vietnamese admit they are height-challenged.
Heels are everywhere, including the police.

Through the meat market on the rickshaws, if you dare, look carefully at
what is for sale.
Finally, our meal.........
The peacock was made out of a hollowed-out pineapple with a candle inside.
The head and wings were from carrots.  They held spring rolls.

The turtle presented our rice.  Gloria and I each had one of these, (one of the peacocks too)
Carrots for head, neck and feet.  The 'shell' is egg.  Very creative.
